Graham Strachan

Mr. Strachan has been a director of VIVUS since June 2001. He has been associated with the biopharmaceutical industry for 20 years. In 1981 he founded Allelix Biopharmaceutical Inc. (now NPS Allelix Pharmaceuticals Inc.) and served as president and CEO from 1987 to 1999. He presently serves on several boards of directors, and served as president of the Biotechnology Industry Organization, which represents the majority of biotechnology companies in North America. In his career Mr. Strachan has successfully completed major strategic alliances and joint ventures with a number of major pharmaceutical companies. Mr. Strachan has served as the principal owner of GLS Business Development, Inc., a life-science consulting firm providing management and business development expertise, since September 1999. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) Chemistry degree from the University of Glasgow, is a qualified patent agent in Canada and the United States, and completed an advanced management program at the University of Western Ontario.
